Athletics Flip Hernandez
Oakland flipped recently acquired phenom Felix Hernandez along with second baseman Howie Kendrick in exchange for Slugger Vlad Guerrero. In the trade Oakland and Seattle also swapped first round picks and Oakland picked up Seattle's second round pick.
Vlad Guerrero slides smoothly into Oakland's powerful lineup, while Kendrick will back up second base for the Mariners behind Rickie Weeks, and Felix Hernandez bolsters Seattle's already strong rotation. With the removal of Guerrero, Seattle opens up right field for developing youngster Hunter Pence. Both teams were excited for the trade, believing it will bolster both teams chances.

The 2009 JSBL Draft (Jan. 26, 2009)

The 2009 Draft
The Joe Shlabotnik Baseball League Commissioners' Office released the official draft list for 2009. The release also includes the draft order. The Pittsburgh Dread Pirates are slated to pick first in the up-coming draft and many baseball minds are now speculating who will be their first pick. Last year the Florida Fishnets surprised many by picking Jacoby Ellsbury after rumors had it that they were targeting Houston's Hunter Pence. This year Pittsburgh could use the skills of any one of the top players in the draft (OF Jay Bruce, 2B-SS Alexi Ramirez, or SP Johnny Cueto).
Full information about the draft is available here as well as below under the League Resources.
